FreeBird Safety Services
In my early 40s, I was advised for health reasons by my Dr. to leave the masonry trade. Scared and not knowing what to do, this young employment counselor suggested I utilize all my knowledge, talents, and drive, go back to school and become a Construction Safety Professional.
One of my very first opportunities came when another safety company requested me to work up at the Kearl Oil Sands Project, as a subcontractor. They suggested I begin forming a company and just use a series of numbers for the registration. However, I thought if I was going to go through all that paperwork, I might as well start to build a brand. In September 2011, FreeBird Safety Services was formed.
With over 30 years in the General Construction Industry, the mission is still the same. Keep the workers trained, informed, safe, and with the knowledge, they can depend on you, and in turn, the employer has protected working well with n the OHS legislation. Generally working in the construction industry, things changed in early 2020.
I was tasked to conduct Respirator Fit Testing for the Medical and dental workers along with their support staff, essential workers, and first responders of the Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley areas of British Columbia. Gladly I said yes. Between Feb. and July 2020 over 2000 of the aforementioned professionals put their lives in my hands and were protected from -19.COVID
Now mid-way through 2021 and the end of the Covid-19 pandemic,
I find myself in Red Deer Alberta.
Having left the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver area I have come here to do my part in the Health and Safety of the Workers and their Employers of Red Deer Alberta
