I am originally from Radville, Saskatchewan, Canada. After 18 years growing up on the farm, I hi-tailed it to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, enrolled at WABC radio school. I got my first “on-air” job on January 11, 1981.
I embarked on a radio career that lasted 30 years, and spanned all 4 western provinces. Within that 30 year time frame, I never put the guitar down. I spent time on the road playing in bars in Saskatchewan, Manitiba and Alberta. Also, in that time, I was able to meet many of my musical heroes. There is a “wall of fame” here at the shop with photos of me with several artists.
I started building guitars in 1995. My wife, Adrienne, graciously allowed me to attend a 10 week course at Timeless Instruments. There, under the tutelage of David Freeman, I received my education and certificate in Lutherie. This course was only the beginning of a journey that is still happening.
I opened up “Gilmore Guitars” on a full time basis May 1st, 2011. I got to that age where, if I didn’t do it now, I never would.
So here we are. As my education in lutherie continues, I will add to this site. As you know, it is a never ending story.
Cheers!
