This is a relatively low maintenance perennial, and should be cut back in late fall in preparation for winter. It has no significant negative characteristics.

Siebold Primrose is recommended for the following landscape applications;

  • General Garden Use
  • Mass Planting
  • Border Edging
  • Rock/Alpine Gardens

Plant Characteristics:

Siebold Primrose will grow to be only 6 inches tall at maturity extending to 12 inches tall with the flowers, with a spread of 8 inches. Its foliage tends to remain low and dense right to the ground. It grows at a fast rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 5 years.

This perennial performs well in both full sun and full shade. It does best in average to evenly moist conditions, but will not tolerate standing water. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution, and will benefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location. Consider applying a thick mulch around the root zone in both summer and winter to conserve soil moisture and protect it in exposed locations or colder zones. This plant can be propagated by seed.

This particular variety is an interspecific hybrid.
