Blue Wind Fan Flower features dainty royal blue flowers with sky blue overtones along the stems from mid spring to late summer. It's small serrated oval leaves remain dark green in colour throughout the season. The fruit is not ornamentally significant.

Blue Wind Fan Flower is an herbaceous annual bedding plant with a trailing habit of growth, eventually spilling over the edges of hanging baskets and containers. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other garden plants with less refined foliage.

This annual bedding plant will require occasional maintenance and upkeep. Trim off the flower heads after they fade and die to encourage more blooms late into the season. It has no significant negative characteristics.

Plant Characteristics:

Blue Wind Fan Flower will grow to be only 4 inches tall at maturity, with a spread of 5 inches. Its foliage tends to remain low and dense right to the ground. Although it's not a true annual, this fast-growing plant can be expected to behave as an annual in our climate if left outdoors over the winter, usually needing replacement the following year.

This annual bedding plant does best in full sun to partial shade. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist growing conditions, but will not tolerate any standing water. It is considered to be drought-tolerant, and thus makes an ideal choice for a low-water garden or xeriscape application. It is not particular as to soil type or pH, and is able to handle environmental salt. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. This plant can be propagated by cuttings.
