Description:

This groundcover variety produces a spreading mat of aromatic gray-green foliage, above which masses of purple-blue flower spikes rise; long blooming from late spring through summer; great for groundcover, edging, and rock gardens

Ornamental Features:

Purple Haze Catmint features beautiful spikes of lightly-scented purple flowers with blue overtones rising above the foliage from late spring to early fall, which are most effective when planted in groupings. It's small fragrant pointy leaves remain grayish green in colour throughout the season. The fruit is not ornamentally significant.

Landscape Attributes:

Purple Haze Catmint is a dense herbaceous perennial with a ground-hugging habit of growth. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other garden plants with less refined foliage.

This perennial will require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and is best cleaned up in early spring before it resumes active growth for the season. It is a good choice for attracting butterflies to your yard, but is not particularly attractive to deer who tend to leave it alone in favor of tastier treats. Plant Characteristics:

Its foliage tends to remain low and dense right to the ground. It grows at a fast rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 10 years.

This perennial does best in full sun to partial shade. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist locations, and should do just fine under typical garden conditions. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. This plant can be propagated by division.
