About Us
Started in the 1940's,
The Eye Care Centre has a long history in Central Alberta. Red Deer Eye Care Centre was founded by Dr. James (Jim) Lampard and Dr. Sadie Lampard when they moved here from Winnipeg in 1940. They worked tirelessly to build their optometry practice, raise their five children, and contribute greatly to the Red Deer community.
As Red Deer expanded, so did the practice, adding the Lampards’ son, Tom Lampard (1981) and Dr. Roger Rudyk (1983) and Dr. Jep Lund (1987). Clinics in both Rocky Mountain House (Rocky Eye Care) and Rimbey (Rimbey Eye Care) were established to further service the communities of Central Alberta.
A move to the current Port-o-Call location in 1999 doubled the size of the Red Deer practice. Subsequently, Dr. Kevin Hesterman (2000) and Dr. Scott Stevenson (2005) joined as partners. More recently, Dr. Daryl Berger (2008) and Dr. Pamela Syrota (2008) came on as associates.
Along with this growth, the scope of practice of optometry has expanded. Technological advancements in refraction, diagnosis, and treatment of eye disease have been incorporated over time. We are proud to offer each patient a prompt yet thorough eye care experience.
We would not be able to do any of this without our fantastic staff. The doctors are proud to have dedicated and experienced staff members who take pride in serving you, our clients and friends.
