The other day, I stopped at the the 170st. Italian Centre. A quick stop to get some fresh bread. I really like to wander around the store, looking lost; always looking for something interesting. I wandered towards the deli section, and stopped to look at the beef on display. Saw the Messinger Meats sausage. There were a few varieties on display, and after a bit decided on the Bratwurst. Just looking at them in the package, I knew they would be something special. We fried them up, amazed at how little fat, and water (none really) there was. One bite, and I knew that I had discovered something special. One of the best sausages, that I have ever tried. Full of flavour, subtle hints of pepper, perfectly seasoned. Will definitley buy again. Bonus, they were reasonably priced.
I'm from Toronto so even regular beef tastes fresher than home since we import everything from Alberta. With that said I've started buying my red meat exclusively from the Messinger Meats at Sinnotts. Hands down the best steaks and ground beef I've ever eaten. My wife is a holistic nutritionist, we used to buy all our red meat in Toronto from artisian butcher shops such as The Healthy Butcher at double the price we are paying at Sinnotts for Messinger. Messinger tastes way better is better marbled and we were buying both organic and New Zealand grass fed beef back home.
Hoping Messinger considers organic/grass fed in future. Regardless I'm a convert. You don't get much better than this ... Local, humane, non hormone Albertan beef from a farm a few Km away.
After trying beef and pork from Messenger Meats, all other major grocery stores do not match the quality. I buy from Messenger Meats ever since and also to support local.
Best meat hands down! I love cooking steaks and your tomahawk is my favorite! Although, I can't see it sold anymore by Sinnotts Independent ( or maybe they just run out fast?). I also like the smoke pork chops.
The bison is fabulous. It's just unfortunate the beef is grain finished. It isn't 100% paleo due to that fact. Overall, the best meat I can find locally.

I'm a person who really enjoys roast beef and BBQ'd steaks. Rib eye steaks and prime rib roast are a favorites. Upon completing a steak or roast dinner in the past, I would always find myself in a bloated uncomfortable experience, even if I took care in toward not overeating. At about 2 or 3 A.M. I would find myself in the cabinet, taking extra strength tums so as to relieve sleep wrecking acid indigestion. After trying this Piedmontese Beef, I found that I could eat a relatively large serving and feel great after the meal, as a matter of fact, lively, active and not bogged down with any bloating experience whatsoever. I have a full night sleep without interruption and feel great in the morning. I haven't yet mentioned that the flavor, tenderness and fat levels in the meat are superior. I don't buy any other meats or sausages now, and am convinced that the feed lots which supply beef to most stores are really doing a number on the beef. It's great to have a supplier and meat plant which concerns themselves with the quality and health value of the meats.
So happy that I can purchase Messinger meats at Sinnotts Independent Grocer in Clearview Market Great central location and close to home. You don't know what your missing until you taste the quality of this meat, it melts in your mouth. I especially like the seasoning and ease of just throwing it on the grill. Thanks to Mercedes and Joe we are eating hormone free beef, they care about the quality of meat we are serving our families. They are also great supporters of our community including Ronald McDonald House. Thanks for all you do :)
I was over to Sinnotts Independent Grocer in Clearview Market Square saturday and Joe and Mercedes were serving up roast beef, it was so fantastic, I asked Joe how to prepare, He handed me a thick plastic bag with meat and gravy combo and said drop this into hot water for 10-15 minutes good to go. I do not know if I have tasted better beef with gravy ready in just a few minutes, so good! You have to try this, you will love it. - Brian Urlacher
